What to Expect: The Therapy Journey

Intake Sessions: Your Starting Point

Your first appointment is called an intake session.
During this session, you’ll meet with your therapist to:

  • Share what brought you to therapy and what you’re hoping to gain.

  • Explore your history, current challenges, and goals for the future.

  • Begin building a safe and supportive relationship with your therapist.

 

This session usually lasts 60 minutes, giving us the space to fully understand your needs and create a personalized treatment plan designed to support your healing journey.

Therapeutic Strategies & Specialties

Our therapists combine evidence-based practices with experiential and nature-based methods to create a deeply personalized therapy experience.

 

This may include:

  • Somatic therapy and body-based practices to release stored trauma

  • Mindfulness and breathwork to regulate the nervous system

  • Equine and nature-based therapy to foster connection and grounding.

We also utilize structured modalities such as:

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

  • Motivational Interviewing

  • Solution-Focused Therapy

Discharging: Celebrating Your Progress

The ultimate goal of therapy is to empower you to confidently move forward in life with the tools and resilience you’ve built.


When you and your therapist feel you’ve reached your goals, we’ll begin the discharge process, which includes:

  • Reviewing your growth and progress.

  • Identifying strategies for maintaining your well-being.

  • Creating a plan for future support, if needed.

Many clients return for “check-in” sessions down the road when facing new challenges, and we welcome you back at any time.

Recommended Session Frequency

Consistency is key to creating lasting change.
Most clients begin by meeting weekly, which helps build momentum and trust while addressing challenges in a timely manner.
As you progress, we may recommend shifting to biweekly or monthly sessions, depending on your needs and growth.
Our goal is to find the right pace for your unique journey.

Insurance vs. Self-Pay Options

We believe therapy should be accessible. Embody Your Light accepts several major insurance providers, including:

  • Select Health

  • Blue Cross Blue Shield

  • Aetna

  • PEHP

  • EMI

  • United Health Care

  • UMR

  • Anthem

If you prefer not to use insurance, we also offer self-pay for $100 per session, allowing you to choose what works best for you and your family.
 

Our team is happy to help you understand your coverage or explore flexible payment solutions.

Easy Scheduling with Our Client Portal

We make it simple to manage your care with our secure online client portal through Simple Practice.


Through the portal, you can:

  • Schedule, cancel, or reschedule appointments at your convenience.

  • Complete intake paperwork before your first session.

  • Message your therapist securely with non-emergency questions.

  • Access billing information and insurance documents all in one place.
